Other issues apart from the Messenger-Skype migration can also cause problems when trying to update contacts. Several potential solutions exist, including upgrading Skype, manually re-synchronizing contacts, and restoring contacts online or from a backup file. Upgrade Skype If, after logging in to Skype using your Microsoft username, you're still having trouble getting your contacts to update, the first and simplest solution is to upgrade Skype to the most recent version available for your operating system. If there is a bug in your current version preventing contacts from updating, for example, chances are Skype has addressed this problem in a subsequent version of the application.

To upgrade, visit the Skype Download page, download the most recent version to your computer, and follow the automated prompts to upgrade (link in Resources). Manually Re-Sync Contacts If you've upgraded Skype and your contacts still won't update, you can try re-synchronizing them manually.
