I'm replying to my own question here, because I solved my problem. Here's what I found: • When printing two-sided full-page documents, 'page' and 'sheet' both mean the same thing. On my Lexmark C543dn printer, this calls for 'Flip on the Long Side'. • On a half-page 5.5' x 8.5' booklet that is not the case --- flipping the page on the short side flips the sheet on the long side.

• It was necessary to change the 'Two-sided Printing Options' to 'Two-sided, flip short side'. My booklet then printed just fine.

I find it difficult to think that no-one has found out why an upgrade of Adobe Reader will cause a failure to print pdf documents when they have always been printable before. Everything else prints - just pdf documents. Assuming you are duplexing, you will need to change a setting in your printer's Properties to change the way the paper is 'flipped.' For portrait documents, duplexing flips on the long edge; for landscape ones, such as your booklet, they need to be flipped on the short edge.

What is happening is there is a two-sided option that allows you to switch between having to flip the page along the long edge or the short edge.

If you go to where you selected your two-sided printing and change the printing to the other option, the second page will print with the correct orientation. Please let me know if this resolves your issue.
